Do These 3 Things To Increase Sales!

Apr 30, 2024

Every business has various layers that when successfully in support of one another, help to increase sales.

Selling product is your main channel of income, however, without these "supporting layers" including marketing, exceptional customer service, smooth operations and financial expertise, any remnants of revenue - not to mention, control over your business - will crumble! If one layer of your business loses attention, the remaining layers will cease to succeed.

In order to ensure your targets and business goals are met and the layers of your business remain harmonious, the 3 most important things you can do include; knowledge, support and focus.

Let me explain...

KNOWLEDGE. What problem are you trying to fix?

Too many business owners spend a huge chunk of their time (and energy) saying they are "too busy" to action the areas that require their immediate attention. Why? Put simply, they don't understand what it is they need to fix and how - and not everyone has access or the cashflow to bring in an expert to do it for them!

Not everyone is an expert in every "layer" of their business. Some are better at finance, while others are wizards at merchandising. Don't be too hard on yourself if you know that systems aren't your strength. You have other strengths and layers to support this weak spot. However! Now is the time you identified these areas where you lack knowledge and spend time learning how to fix it!

Don't be caught up being "busy". Put aside time to learn about an area which needs your much needed attention and soon, this won't be a sore point or sink hole draining potential revenue and cash flow!

FOCUS. How are you allocating your time?

You might hear this all the time, but allocating your time purposefully is a non-negotiable when running a business. Time wasted makes a huge difference to your bottom line!

A lack of focus on the obstacles that are hindering your business growth are also impacting the supporting layers of your business.

Too much time allocated to learning a system during business hours when you could be conversing with customers to grow your email list is a potential sale lost.

Solve your problems first. Acquire the knowledge needed to solve the weak spots of your business so your time is better spent creating growth opportunities and increased sales in others.

Where to start? Create a business strategy inspired by the original vision of your brand. How many hours does it take to focus on tasks that will gain you more revenue??? Set aside that time (outside trade hours) and solve them!

SUPPORT. Who is holding you accountable?

Ever feel like you're losing control of your business? Do you often blame the economy for customers not buying? Are you doing things alone making you tirelessly "busy"?

A lack of support can exacerbate the pain points in your business. It can stretch each supporting layer to the point of collapse, which is where a lot of business owners lose motivation and give up! They have no one to hold them accountable for their mistakes, wasted time and poor time management.

However, support is not necessarily hiring more staff - or any staff. If there's a "quieter" day in your week, focus on actioning the problems and tasks that will increase your revenue. A few hours or half a day working on one layer of your business that will inevitably support the other layers of your business is worth every second of your precious time. Understand what these areas are and be sure to track any improvements.
